Historic Addition
to 18th Century House
In the fall of 2022, we were asked to imagine a tasteful, historically appropriate addition to the original 18th century timber frame house pictured below. Our vision required complete removal of two recent additions before any new construction could begin.

With the building permit secured, we began demolition and removal of the recent additions being careful to leave the original 18th century structure intact.

One of our guiding principals is to make any new work look like "it has always been there."

Here you see the exposed wall of the original structure with it's impressive hand hewn timer frame construction. During the initial planning process, we had decided to make our addition look like it could have been added in the 19th century. Part of that meant using actual reclaimed 19th century timbers.

Our trim designs, usage of real cedar shingles, and decorative rafter tails all lend a 19th century look and quality.

As of early 2025, the exterior was almost complete with final details and exterior painting to be done as the weather warmed.
We build beautiful new homes and restore historic buildings, churches, and houses. Since 1975, we have offered award-winning historic restoration and construction services throughout Westchester County and Putnam County in New York State.
